It’s hard not to be lured into the chaos of Black Friday, with the promise of rock bottom prices on all those high dollar and hard to find items that your family has been requesting. Who doesn’t want to save a few hundred or even thousand dollars during the Christmas season? Then there is the down side to Black Friday, the one that requires you to miss most of your sleep, and fight rude and sometimes angry crowds. So what’s a mom to do? If you want to survive Black Friday and make it home with the best deals you simply need to follow a few survival tips.
1. Make a Battle Plan
There are so many good deals to be had on Black Friday that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. You’ve circled item after item at 7 different stores. The likelihood that you can make it to each store and retrieve all those bargains is slim and you’ll just stress yourself out trying. Instead pick out your top must have items, the ones that will save you the most money or are at the top of your families Christmas list. Then decided what is your number one priority and stick with it.
2. No Kids Allowed
Unless you have an older teenager who you feel could go a few rounds in a wrestling arena, it’s much better to leave younger children at home. Trying to keep an eye on young children in a swarming crowd on Black Friday is nearly impossible, and if past experience has shown us anything Black Friday can be a dangerous place. So leave the kiddo’s in their bed and let grandma sleep over.
3. Keep Your Sanity
We all want to get the best deal and stretch our hard earned dollars a little farther but with that being said losing your head and wrestling another mom to the floor over a $5 toddler sleep set will only haunt you later. Instead remember to stay as polite as possible, go in knowing you might not get everything on your list, and remember to enjoy the thrill of the hunt.
If you follow these three simple steps you’ll be on your way to conquering the madness of Black Friday and saving yourself money, time and stress. Happy Hunting!
