1. Start Each Morning With A Glass Of Lemon Water
The rooster crows, fido is tugging at your bed sheets, and the last thing you want to do is get out of bed. Am I right? Well, if you start drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning, the transition from your groggy state to one of vitality and energy will be as easy as a protein shake. This is because just one cup of warm lemon water every morning cleanses you, aids in digestion, boosts your immune system, clears your skin, balances your PH levels, promotes healing, energizes your body, freshens your breath, hydrates your lymph system, and aids in weight loss. Need I say more? Commit to starting your day feeling renewed and refreshed with this glass of tangy encouragement.
2. Make A Date With The Gym
You schedule appointments for the dentist, you schedule in your kids soccer practice, and now it’s time to schedule a date just for you. Start writing into your calendar exactly when you will workout and treat it like all of your other appointments as one you cannot miss. You are worthy and deserving of taking care of yourself.
3. When You Fail To Plan, You Plan To Fail
Over the past several years, I’ve noticed that when I leave my meals and workouts up to chance, they simply do not happen or I make less than desirable choices. When I plan out my meals the day before, I notice I always set myself up for massive success and feeling unstoppable. Given that recipes and workouts are more than abundant these days, all the tips and tricks you need to make healthy choices are right at your fingertips. Even if you and your husband want macaroni and cheese for dinner, I am 100% certain healthy macaroni and cheese recipes can be planned for in advance as opposed to seeking out the local diner at the last minute which will laden your food with butter, cheese, and whole fat milk.
4. An All Or Nothing Mentality Is Exhausting
Yes, I’ve been there too. It’s either one way or the other. There is no middle ground. Right? WRONG. My challenge to all of you out there is to start thinking in terms of balance. If you are craving a chocolate bar, allow yourself small portions of it every day until you are able to “ween” off of it. When we act as if we are not allowed to touch certain foods or tell ourselves “no,” we set ourselves up for binging and feelings of deprivation. You are way more worthy than that beautiful!
5. Look In The Mirror And Tell Yourself “I Love You”
Sounds cheesy, right? Or maybe even a bit scary? I will be honest and tell you the first time I looked myself in the eyes in the mirror and told myself “I love you” it was a total tear fest. In order to truly love who we are, we must get real with ourselves and start by acknowledging our beautiful souls every day. I don’t care how uncomfortable you feel, we all know the only way to grow is to get uncomfortable! This one exercise absolutely changed my life and I know it will greatly impact yours as well.
6. Invest In Yourself
Our bodies are fabulous, but what about our brains? With so many seminars and personal growth books everywhere you turn, it’s time to start feeding your mind the same optimum nutrients you feed your body. Some of my personal favorite personal growth motivators include: “The Have It All Woman” by Susan Sly as well as “Unleash the Power Within” by Tony Robbins. As we all know, where our focus goes, our energy flows so it’s time to keep our head in the game.
7. Get An Accountability Partner
If you say you’re going to do something and then don’t follow through with it, it feels freakin’ terrible. Am I right? Let’s break the cycle starting TODAY by finding an accountability partner who will kick our butts until we’ve done what we say we are going to do. Best friends, family members, spouses… just find someone who will hold you to your word! I promise that if you find an accountability partner who knows your action tasks for the day, your chances of actually following through with them will drastically increase as you know that someone is waiting to hear from you! Trust me; when you stay true to your word AND you have someone holding you accountable, you’re going to love the fabulous goddess you truly are a whole lot more.
8. Commit To Moving Your Body Every Day
If you don’t have time to make it to the gym for a sweat fest, there are still ways to move your body every single day. The human body was not designed to be sedentary! Commit to taking a walk, doing an at home workout, or simply stretching each and every day in order to begin to feel as good as you deserve to feel. I’ve discovered that most people have no idea how good their bodies are designed to feel. Whether it’s an intense boot camp or a few yoga stretches, your body will thank you for any and all movement.
9. Get An Attitude Of Gratitude
While sipping on your hot lemon water in the morning, try writing down in your journal 5 things for which you are grateful. Whether it’s simply the fact that you woke up that morning or for your beautiful children, start your day by being thankful for anything and everything in your life. When we develop an attitude of gratitude, we become unstoppable as nothing can bring us down.
10. Celebrate Your Successes
Ladies, are we not hard enough on ourselves? I don’t know if it’s written in our DNA but it seems that we’ve been taught we are never enough. Therefore, I challenge you to start celebrating like crazy at least three things you did successful every single day. For example, today I celebrated the fact that I worked out, cooked spaghetti squash and wrote this article! Whether small or big, tall or short, thick or thin, everything we do deserves to be treated as a success. Yes, it’s time to turn up Ms. Gaga on the sound system and let the world know how fabulous you truly are.
